Volkswagen California engine failure - repair or reject?

My Volkswagen California camper van is 10 weeks old and needs a new engine due to the failure of the exhaust gas recycling valve causing coolant to be drawn into the block. How confident can I be with the replacement engine?

It a Volkswagen. The 2.0 BITD engine has had a lot of problems. I would reject the vehicle for a full cash refund.
