What's the insurance status of a works van?
I drive a work van on a the works insurance policy. There are multiple drivers who drive it and - as you might expect - the bodywork gets dents and marks like a normal work van.
We have now been told that whoever damages the van will now be held liable. My employer says they will get in contact with our individual insurers and make a claim. Can they do this?

It can't work that way. Your personal car insurance insures you to drive your car. If it insures you to driver other vehicles third party, it would not cover any damage to the van. However, if the damage claim is put in your name, then you have to disclose it to your insurer and you will suffer a minor penalty on your next insurance premium.
