Vauxhall Vivaro 1.9 CDTi just won't rev...

I have a 2003 Vauxhall Vivaro 1.9 CDTi van with 95,000 miles on the clock. It has been running fine but after having been parked up and not run for a few weeks, it is now rough to start, won't tick over after start-up without pulsing the throttle pedal, is very reluctant to gain any revs at all (a bit like limp mode) until eventually it can be coaxed up to about 2,000 rpm at which point it then revs fine and pulls for England. No engine management lights showing on the dash. Any ideas?

It could be a number of things, from the ECT (engine coolant temp sensor) to the EGR (exhaust gas recycling valve). It may be prudent to have a diagnostic check carried out in the first instance (approx £65) which should then identify by fault code, what the actual problem is.
